I offer the following services and pricing for solo business owner, non-profit and artist WordPress websites and training:
15 minute complimentary consultation – I’ll gladly talk with you about your art, business, non-profit and your online needs and what you’d like to see happen in your website project. If you decide to work with me then I’ll send you questions to further clarify the project and create a Project Brief. I charge $65/hour for your Project Brief which takes 3 to 6 hours to complete depending upon the number of revisions that you might require.
Project Brief – this ‘road map’ is vitally important to helping us map out requirements, a schedule and an estimate. Assuming your project estimate is $1000, I’ll note that in the Project Brief and request a 1/3 downpayment of the project. Each month that we work together, I’ll invoice you at $65/hour for the work we do together including Skype sessions, design, development, photo editing. You will provide your logo, content and images for the project. Note an estimate, is just that, an estimate. If you are super clear and focussed on getting your project done in a reasonable amount of time, there is the possibility that your site will be up and you will be trained for less than the estimate. Yes, I have worked with clients like this and it’s a joy to come in under the projected budget. However, the estimate is only as good as the information provided and if the goals of the project changes from the Project Brief then it’s time for a new estimate. My goal is for you to be a happy client and reference so time spent outlining requirements here are well worth the effort.
Your website’s content – Whether you are a small business owner, non-profit or artist, I recommend you use the finest photographs you can afford on your website. But search engines and bots will be searching for you because of the content on your site. Do you need help figuring out what content will be most effective for your website? Take some time to read this timeless advice by Kevin Kelly, entitled 1000 true fans. For up-to-the-minute information and real world examples of how to create website content that helps you, your art, or your small business or non-profit’s mission get noticed online, read and follow the advice and steps outlined in David Amerland’s book entitled Google Semantic Search.
Hosting – I recommend and have an affiliate arrangement with Bluehost for hosting your website because it’s an affordable and reliable hosting service. I believe in a judicious use of resources (your money!) and therefore, think it makes sense to work in a reliable and secure environment on your website.
WordPress and Training – I create client sites in WordPress because it’s a fabulous content management system to create a unique website for you, your artwork or your non-profit or business. With just a few hours of training, you will be able to update your WordPress website pages, upload new images and create new blog posts with ease. If you’d like more ongoing training, I’ll gladly continue to do so for $65/hour.
Weekly updates – Depending upon your priorities to get the work on your website done, I’ll meet with you via phone or Skype weekly or bi-weekly. However, I will confess upfront, I am not a ‘pants-on-fire’ website creator. This means I turn down last minute requests for websites that need to go live ‘yesterday.’ I believe that a beautiful, perennial garden takes time to grow, and well-made websites and effectively cultivating an online presence take time, too. What does this mean? Will it take months for you to have a new website? This, dear reader, completely depends on you. I have never missed a deadline. But my clients are busy people with busy lives and so I am here to gently nudge you on the path to a new website within a reasonable amount of time.
Reaching the goal – Ultimately, you want a website that works that you can maintain and update over time and I want you to be a happy client who will refer me to your friends. This process I’ve outlined has helped me do so and I hope you’ll contact me today to see if you think I can help you and your online presence bloom and grow.
