Magical Majestic Maine

Magical Majestic Maine

What is it about Maine that makes it “Magical Majestic Maine?” Let me count the ways. But, before I elaborate, here’s information about this blog. This is a place where, each week, I share my paintings, process, occasional infuences from art history, studio sales and inspiration. Whether this is your first or millionth visit here, hiya, hello and a warm welcome! I choose a theme to guide my paintings each year. To read about this year’s painting theme, check the description in this link here. To subscribe and get a weekly dose of color for yourself, subscribe here. Memories of 2023 Road Trip

I started this painting during our 2023 Road Trip North. Here’s the set up for this painting at one of my favorite campgrounds in Maine. Oooh la la the vistas and beach access are fantastic at this place.

Just looking at this photo reminds me of the beauty and majesty of the shore and rocky coast of this place. It also helps to see Best Dog Ever (BDE) lounging in the water. That’s a reminder of how warm it was that day!

It’s hard to believe that nearly a month has passed since we returned to NC from this trip. And, I put this painting aside during that time, too. Recently, I rediscovered it and couldn’t wait to work on it again.

The Finish from Memory

As I worked on this painting here in the studio, I let all the ocean sounds and rocky terrain and warm air ease back into my mind. Ahhh! I loved working on this painting, chipping away at the rocks in the foreground, those tall tall evergreen trees and the clouds in the sky. Here’s the luscious result. Yes it’s for sale for $197 + $14.28 tax + $25 shipping = $236.25

Seeing Art in Person

There’s nothing quite like seeing art in person. In fact, I love looking at artwork online, just as you are here. Then, I’m always amazed to “experience” paintings in person. There’s always something about seeing paintings in person that transports me. This feeling of being transported inspired me to name my Studio Sale “Whisk You Away.” Why? One of my painterly goals is to help you, gentle reader, feel transported, taken away, even whisked away by a painting.

So, please mark your calendar and plan to attend my 2023 “Whisk You Away Studio Sale.” I will have this and many more paintings and prints for you to see. Many of the paintings will be framed and ready to hang. Some smaller works will be matted and ready for you to frame. I will even have a few limited edition prints of my paintings. Lastly, I will have a drawing for a free print for those of you who stop by in person!

Here are the details:

Am I crazy or does this painting really capture the movement of that day in Maine? This a very sense-filled painting for me and the sense of the clouds moving and the water rolling back and forth is what strikes me as a very fabulous aspect of this painting! Well done!

And, if it’s just me an my imagination … that’s okay too, right? 🙂

I have to agree with Beth, I feel like I could be looking at that anywhere along the Bay of Fundy or Gulf of Maine. And I feel the movement. Lovely painting.
